Action Cards

When the AI wants to change your data, it always pops a card for you to confirm — never auto-runs.

Common action types

Vara always pops a card for confirmation when changing your data, never auto-runs:

  • create_iteration — new experiment iteration
  • update_parameter — change param value
  • add_step — add sub-experiment
  • create_material — new material
  • log_action — log one operation (passage / change)
  • add_plan_items — add items to today's plan (you can also show Vara a photo of a schedule table)

How the card works

  • Each card shows a title + description + [Confirm] / [Cancel]
  • Multiple actions collapse into one group you can Confirm all
  • On failure the card turns red and shows the exact reason (e.g. "Experiment v3 was deleted")

Optimize / complete the current sub-experiment → new version

Inside a sub-experiment, tell Vara "this sub-experiment looks incomplete, optimize it", "fill in the missing steps", or "flesh out each step". Vara reads just this sub-experiment and rebuilds its optimized procedure steps — it can add new steps, fill in reagents / volumes / temperatures / timing, and reorder. Scope is limited to the current sub-experiment; siblings are untouched.

  • Clicking the card opens a review page for the optimized sub-experiment; edit anything, then confirm
  • Confirming saves it as a new version of that sub-experiment; the original is kept for comparison and is not overwritten
  • Different from "change one parameter" (new version with just that value) — this completes/rewrites the current sub-experiment's steps

Read-only operations (look up an experiment, check a parameter) run freely with no card; only operations that change data need your confirmation.
