Core Concepts
Once these layers click, everything else follows.
Three-layer structure
Vara breaks an experiment into three clear layers, each with its own editable title, description, and notes:
Experiment
A complete experiment, e.g. "WB-CD86 v3". Reproduce it into a v4 iteration with one click.
Sub-experiment
A stage within the experiment, e.g. "Day1 plate coating".
Procedure step
The finest step, e.g. "Wash 3x with PBS", with a checkbox.
Experiments belong directly to your account— no project layer, no folders. To reuse one experiment's content in a new one, use the [Reproduce] button.
"Lanes" and "running"
The "lanes" on the experiment page (main line, branches, parallel groups) are derived automatically from the dependencies between sub-experiments, so you never maintain them by hand. Whether an experiment is "running" depends on whether there's an unfinished run record, not on some status switch.
