Reference Library & Reproduction
Keep the papers you want to reproduce in one place — paste a DOI / upload a PDF, then reproduce in one click.
Where to find it
New [Reference Library]in the sidebar "Library" group (route /references). Top-right [Import references] opens a two-tab import dialog.
Two ways to import
- Paste DOI: one per line, up to 50. Vara auto-fetches title / authors / journal / year (via Crossref) and detects open-access availability. Per-item results: Imported / Already in library / Not found / Invalid format.
- Upload PDF: no DOI needed — upload a text-based PDF and Vara extracts the bibliographic details (scanned images may not be recognized).
Full-text availability badges
- Open Access (green) — read the OA full-text PDF directly
- Institution access (gray) — not open access; opens the publisher page (needs institutional access)
- Local PDF (blue) — a PDF you uploaded yourself
Link to an experiment
On an experiment page, the "References" area has [Link reference] — pick from your library or paste a DOI (a new DOI is imported then linked). Once linked, the experiment page shows which paper it reproduces, one click to open the source.
Reproduce in one click
On a reference card, [⋯] menu → [Reproduce] hooks into the existing PDF → AI parse → review pipeline (Pro):
- Open-access papers: Vara fetches and parses the full text server-side — nothing to upload
- Non-OA / fetch failed: you're prompted to upload the PDF
- Both land in the review page — committed only after you confirm; the new experiment is auto-linked back to the reference
Export a PPT draft
After parsing you can also export a PPT draft in one click — it condenses the key points, applies an academic template, and leaves figure placeholders (full details in Export).
Current scope (v1)
DOI + PDF import and experiment-level linking for now. PubMed / Zotero / EndNote connectors, BibTeX export, and in-library search / tags come later. The Mac client shares the same reference library as web (via /v1/references).
